Description

Project Background

Public mental health is the art and science of improving mental health and wellbeing and preventing mental illness through the organised efforts and informed choices of society, organisations, public and private, communities and individuals .

HEE is working closely with Public Health England and other stakeholders on the development of the core and wider public health workforce in upskilling of the workforce in mental health prevention and mental wellbeing promotion.

A wide range of organisations in the public, voluntary and commercial sectors have developed mental health prevention and mental wellbeing promotion training resources to meet the needs of their staff and clients. There is a range of delivery methods for this training from e-learning packages to webinars, films and face to face learning opportunities and simulation.

We are aware that there is an ask from the providers of services to have easy access to information on sources of suitable education interventions/training courses for their staff to upskill them in this area. The Mental health promotion and prevention training programmes - Emerging practice examples published in September 2016 provides some of this information has is in need of a refresh.

On this basis we are seeking a provider(s) who can undertake a number of pieces of work in relation to HEE's wider objectives for improving the availability and uptake of accessible, quality continuing professional development.

The detail of the specific outputs required are set out in the Specification - Mental Illness Prevention and Mental Wellbeing Promotion Training Resources (additional document).

Rationale for procurement

We are seeking external specialists to undertake the design, development and delivery of the projects as outlined. Our intention is to conclude a competitive tender process by 8 April 2019 and to contract for the delivery of the projects by the 30 November 2019.
