Description

Unmanned Survey Solutions design and build Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV's).
We have a requirement for a Marine Drone Specialist to support us on a new project to assist with the research, design and build of a new 4-5m Accession class USV.
Candidates should apply if they have a relevant degree in product design and can demonstrate extensive relevant experience and the following skill sets:
1. Project management skills for research and design projects
2. Knowledge of existing Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV's)
3. Knowledge and experience operating Unmanned Airborne Vehicles (UAV's) or drones
4. Ability to assist with the design and implementation of an autonomous launch and landing system for a UAV onboard a USV
5. Ability to research current market Launch And Recovery System (LARS) for small vessels and then design a new bespoke LARS for the new Accession class USV
6. Ability to research and design a vessel control system
7. Ability to then integrate the vessel control system into the USV to ensure safe operation of the vessel thrusters
8. Ability to research current optical avoidance systems, then design and implement a new system to be used with the USV control system
9. Ability to research, design and implement a power management system to ensure reliable power is provide to all systems throughout the operating periods the vessel is required
10. Ability to research, assist with the design and integration of an underway winch system for lowering sensors whilst the USV maintains speed and heading
11. A general capability for undertaking electrical works such as cable making and soldering
12. An ability to research, design and fit out the USV with a long range WiFi system
13. A working knowledge of Hydrographic and cartographic payload equipment including single and multiple-beam echo-sounders, GNSS sensors, sound velocity sensors and 3d mobile scanners

This project will be part funded by ERDF.
