Description

NHS NEL ICB is looking to procure Raising awareness of Lung cancer symptoms in City and Hackney Services
Cancer is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in Hackney and the City, much of which is preventable. Around a third of all deaths in Hackney and the City are attributed to cancer, with breast, prostate, lung and colorectal cancers in particular contributing substantially to this burden. It is well established that early recognition of cancer symptoms, and therefore earlier help seeking, diagnosis and treatment, can lead to improved survival and patient experience. Raising awareness of cancer symptoms is therefore a priority for action locally
The activity covered by this specification will focus on increasing awareness Lung cancer symptoms amongst individuals in Hackney and the City and subsequently earlier help seeking and diagnosis.

The overall aim of the service is to improve earlier diagnosis of Lung cancer in Hackney and the City through raising awareness of Lung cancer symptoms and encouraging earlier engagement with healthcare services. The project will also aim to collaborate with a range of community groups, health and social services (including GP practices and Local Authority provision) to enhance the public's knowledge and understanding of lung cancer symptoms.

Specific objectives
• Increase knowledge and understanding of Lung cancer symptoms
• Increase presentation to GPs and early diagnosis among target group
• Decrease emergency presentations among target population group
• Increase proportion of early stage diagnoses of Lung cancer
