Description

In response to COVID-19, West Yorkshire and Harrogate (WY&H) Health and Care Partnership Personalised Care Programme are developing a training offer to upskill health and care staff across West Yorkshire & Harrogate by offering specialist training in advance care planning and bereavement support.

COVID-19 has widened existing inequalities, having a disproportionate impact on many who already face disadvantage and discrimination. The impact of the virus has been particularly detrimental on people living in areas of greatest deprivation, on people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities (BAME) and people with a learning disability to name but a few.

Due to the current challenges of COVID-19, our health and care system needs to adapt to deliver Advance Care Planning (ACP) and to enable better conversations between health and care professionals, people and carers about bereavement and end of life. This training will ensure our workforce is equipped with the essential skills to have better conversations and to support the health and emotional resilience of staff and communities during this time.

We are inviting expressions of interest from; experienced training providers and third sector organisations, which have demonstrable experience and expertise working with those with learning disabilities and/or BAME communities, to apply for this exciting opportunity. We welcome responses from individual organisations or consortiums of organisations to deliver specific modules or the whole training programme and encourage partnership working.

The successful provider(s) will ensure a robust method for cascading training such as a train the trainer approach to support a sustainable system. If successful, the selected provider/s will receive between £20,000 and £30,000 which should train a minimum of 30 delegates with at least 15 of those delegates upskilled using a train the trainer approach. The training programme will be delivered up until March 2021.
