Description

Norwich City Council has been successful in their application for strategic Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding to undertake works to improve the Yare Valley Walk and Cringleford Meadow car park.
CIL is a levy administered by the planning system to ensure local authorities can enhance and deliver new infrastructure to cater for new development and the associated increase in population / users of the infrastructure.
The Yare Valley Walk is a key piece of green infrastructure and improvement to the surface, way marking, and interpretation is crucial to delivering robust publicly accessible green infrastructure south of Norwich.
CIL funding was agreed for the project in 2017 - 2018. Around this time Norwich City Council secured some improvement works along this stretch of the Yare Valley Walk through development at the Bartram Mowers site. These works are now complete and the final stretch between Strawberry Field and Cringleford Meadow will also be required by development as future phases come forward.
This CIL funded scheme seeks to deliver surface enhancements to the remaining section of Yare Valley Walk between the UEA and Cringleford, at Cringleford Meadow. Improvements to the car park, way marking, interpretation and ecological enhancements to enable the environment to cope with the level of recreational use it receives and will receive in the future also form part of the project.
