Description

Loneliness can lead to poorer physical and mental health outcomes for individuals as well as causing emotional distress. Holt-Lunstad et al (2015) has argued that the heightened risk for mortality from lack of social relationships is greater than that from obesity highlighting that loneliness is predicted to reach 'epidemic proportions' by 2030.

The Worcestershire Health and Wellbeing Board launched a strategic action plan to develop a system wide response to reducing loneliness in 2015. The People Like Us (PLUS) service to 'Reduce Loneliness in Worcestershire' is part of the vision to tackle loneliness and also forms part of a wider integrated wellbeing offer, providing specialist interventions to reduce loneliness for vulnerable adults living in Worcestershire.

Worcestershire County Council are seeking proposals for innovative and specific projects aiming to reduce loneliness in Worcestershire. Projects should complement existing services/ interventions and should avoid duplication. Projects should consider collaborative and partnership approaches to services. Collaborative bids with one lead provider or bids from a single organisation will be accepted.
Projects should complement existing services/ interventions and should avoid duplication. All projects must be delivered by 31st March 2022.

Proposals should include a timescale of implementation to meet the March 2022 deadline, as well as geographical areas covered and project outline. Proposals should consider resource required within or up to the £50,000 funding available.

Further details are provided in the Service Specification - Appendix 1.
