Description

The existing poor condition of the Vaughan Road Subway and its current role as focus of antisocial behaviour in the area, has led the Wolverhampton City Council to develop a infilling solution. The project aims to completely infill the subway and accesses levelling the approaches up to the existing footway in order to develop a more aesthetically pleasant and safer area for pedestrians and local residents.
The following works are included in the scheme:
Decommission of the services affected by the works
Removal of existing subway elements, such as handrails, guardrails, parapets and bollards.
Infilling of existing subway with concrete.
Infilling existing access with class 1A granular material
Surface the infilled approach areas as directed by the City of Wolverhampton.
