3117/512/JN/NAMRC/21 Nuclear AMRC Disc Laser Upgrades

The University of Sheffield wishes to invite tenders for Disc Laser Upgrades on behalf of the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (NAMRC).

Scope of Requirement
Use and Description
The Nuclear AMRC are tendering to implement two upgrades to an existing disc laser cell currently in place, with the supply, installation, and commissioning of the following equipment which are required to be compatible with the existing cell:
o Co-axial wire feed optical processing head (CWFH)
o Laser beam oscillation optical processing (BOH) head
o In-process key-hole monitoring (IPM) system

Upgrade 1
A co-axial wire feed optical processing head (CWFH) for use in additive manufacturing and dissimilar metal overlaying (cladding).
Upgrade 2
A laser beam oscillation optical processing (BOH) head and an in-process key-hole monitoring (IPM) system for use in laser welding that is compatible with the existing disc laser cell. The BOH is to enable either the user selection of oscillation parameters, or in conjunction with the IPM to automatically control the beam oscillation to provide seam-tracking functionality.
