Description

Portsmouth City Council, on behalf of Bird Aware Solent, is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced providers to tender for this project.

The scope of which will comprise of but may not be limited to the provision and maintenance of automated counters at 10 different locations across the Bird Aware Solent area. Suppliers will be required to collect the data received from the counters and supply this to the Bird Aware Solent Group.

This commission is part of a wider scheme of monitoring work that measures the effectiveness of the Bird Aware Solent mitigation strategy. This is a long term strategy that aims to ensure that additional recreational activity along the Solent coastline, as a result of increased housebuilding, does not result in additional bird disturbance and therefore harm to the Solent coastline and the Special Protection Areas (SPA), which have been designated predominantly for the protection of the large numbers of waders and wildfowl which spend the winter on the Solent.

Data collection is required from 1st October 2019 to 20th September 2020. The initial contract period will be for this first survey period, extendable by a further 4 years to a maximum total term of 5 years, in increments to be agreed, subject to the agreement and performance of both parties.

The closing date for receipt of your expression of interest is given against the heading entitled - Date documents can be requested until.
