Description

NHS Arden & Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (NHS Arden & GEM CSU) on behalf of NHS Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (SDCCG) is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified providers to deliver Anticoagulation (Vitamin K Antagonist) Service in Southern Derbyshire.

Southern Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group has two provisions for Anticoagulation services due to the historical geographical legacies of the County and City PCTs. The City provision currently forms part of the main contract for Acute Services. The County provision is currently delivered through a number of GP practices and community pharmacies.

The Commissioners are aware of the inequity of access to the service across Southern Derbyshire and therefore, are looking for expressions of interest from suitably qualified providers who have experience of delivering services in a community based setting, with referrals into secondary care as and when required.

The Enhanced Service will:

• Ensure a safe, effective and consistent high quality service is delivered to patients by all anticoagulation service providers using appropriately trained staff;
• Ensure consistent procedures relating to testing, sampling and dosing across service providers and at the interface between Primary and Secondary Care services;
• Ensure maintenance of a list of patients, and that the need for continuation of therapy is reviewed regularly and therapy is discontinued where appropriate;
• Enhance the confidence and develop the skills of all service provider staff who have an interest in anticoagulation management;
• Improve the primary/secondary care interface resulting in a streamlined service that benefits patients;
• Provide increased capacity in the community to meet the rising demand for anticoagulation;
• To provide face to face consultation with an accredited practitioner for all mobile service users.
• Ensure dosing is performed by an accredited practitioner.
• Provide more services that are near to service users and are easily accessible and flexible.
• Ensure patients are compliant with treatment to ensure desired health outcomes are achieved.
• Apply to the monitoring of INR and management for Vitamin K antagonist (anticoagulant) treatment only

Potential providers with relevant capability and experience to deliver this service are required to express an interest if they are interested in bidding for this service should Clinical Commissioning Groups decide to carry out a competitive tender exercise and publishes a Contract Notice for this requirement. You can express an interest in this market testing exercise by registering your organisation on the Bravo website: https://ardengemcsu.bravosolution.co.uk. The PQQ reference is PQQ_186.

Please note that this is a market testing exercise to inform the CCG decision making process. This does not commit the CCG to carry out a procurement process.
