Description
The City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council wishes to inform organisations of its plans for publishing a tender for Buddy Schemes for: • People with a learning disability or those who are neuro-diverse • People with physical disabilities and/or sensory impairment • Older people • People living with dementia
Bradford Council Health and Wellbeing department, along with its strategic partners, has seen the health and social care system align with a single ambition for people in the district: Happy, Healthy and at Home.
The Buddy Scheme will be to support people to make new friends and help them go out and do the things they enjoy. People will be matched with someone who enjoys the same activities so they can go together.
We will be holding a market engagement event for Providers on: Thursday 21st April between 9am - 11:30am with the intention of publishing the tender in May 2022.
We will be looking for organisations who can deliver these key service outcomes: • Purchase, deliver, promote and develop the Gig Buddies franchise in Bradford in conjunction with Bradford College and other partners • Match people to a volunteer who has similar interests, to go to events together • Support people to be less socially isolated and lead healthier and more fulfilled lives that they're in control of. • Support people to develop their informal social networks and friendships outside of typical social care settings • Work with people in an inclusive way and take a strength based approach to running the project • Develop community awareness so that people are seen as individuals with particular interests not just as people with a need • Work with partners such as music venues and arts organisations to develop welcoming venues for people
