Description

Open to the public since 1929, Meadow Park in Borehamwood is popular for sport and has a range of facilities which we are currently upgrading whilst retaining the interactive play, teen shelter, football pitches, open grassland and a wildflower meadows. The park also hosts local events including Families Day, Halloween Funday and the Annual Fireworks Display.
Recent developments on the Elstree Way corridor as well as current schemes at 12 Elstree Way, Isopad House and Hertswood School will significantly increase the population of Borehamwood without providing additional open space or play provision. There is already a deficit in provision of open space and play in Borehamwood and the Cowley Hill ward - Meadow Park is an important park serving this ward and all of the new developments.
Meadow Park is currently subject to a major redevelopment to create a more interesting park with an emphasis on sports, fitness and activity whilst assisting improved access and enhancing the landscaping within the park. Already completed as part of this project are two new play areas, footpath network improvements, fitness station, more interactive play and bespoke entrance barriers. Still to come are additional landscaping including tree planting and a wildlife and community garden, as well as sports courts enhancements, bmx pump track, community performance shelter and the creation of a park café with public toilets.

As a potential addition to the park, we are considering the feasibility including infrastructure requirements, practicalities and costings (both install and ongoing maintenance) of providing a splash pad within the park.

The Council is therefore undertaking soft market testing in advance of a full procurement process
