Description
The Manchester College is part of the LTE group, the UK's largest social enterprise dedicated to skills and training, reinvesting our surpluses in innovation and growth.
Based in Manchester, the group reflects the combined strengths and services of our four leading organisations: The Manchester College, Novus, Total People and MOL.
We have around 5,000 colleagues in 100+ locations and more than 100,000 students and learners across the UK. Group turnover for 2016/17 is expected to reach £190m.
The Manchester College is one of the largest FE colleges in the UK, with 23,000 students and 1,700 staff. The College is the number one provider of 16-19, adult and higher education in Greater Manchester. More than 25% of Greater Manchester's learning provision is undertaken by The Manchester College.
The College's five-year strategy - College 2020 - is a response to changes such as devolved government, the Industrial Strategy and the Northern Powerhouse. This includes probably the largest estate reshape in the sector. The project will provide high-quality learning opportunities and environments for students, staff and employers including a new campus in the heart of the city centre.
In order to progress a new campus in Manchester City Centre, the Group requires the services of experienced Design Team members, including but not limited to Architect/Lead Designer, Building Services Engineer, Structural and Civil Engineer, Principal Designer, BREEAM assessor etc. Each individual service will be a direct appointment to the LTE Group via a bespoke letter of appointment.
The project is to consist of a full design service which will likely comprise the design and delivery of the building either in one phase or two (broadly 16,000m2 in phase one and 12,000m2 in phase two or the combination if delivered together). The estimated value of the project in net construction terms is £50 million to £75 million. In addition to the new campus in the City Centre, the Group requires the services of experienced Design Team members (as noted above) under direct appointment for the design and delivery of education and sports facilities at their main campus at Openshaw, Ashton Old Road, Manchester comprising a new sports hall and associated provision, 3G pitch, new teaching facilities for public services, health and wellbeing and construction and logistics, including site clearance and co-ordination of remodelling/refurbishment of existing buildings. Estimated value of the project in net construction terms is £20 million to £24 million.
