Edenbridge Town Council is looking to redevelop the existing playground area creating a new toddler and younger years play area and a juniors play space. This will include the removal of the existing swings and toddler equipment, the installation of the new equipment, and the installation of appropriate safety surfacing. A brand-new activity area for teenagers (secondary school ages) is to be created providing an additional facility.

There will be three distinct areas for age groups. In a recent consultation the following desired equipment was identified but not restricted to:

Play area for 0-4 years
1) Climbing frame themed with slide
2) Inclusive sensory play car (or another themed item) with wheelchair access
3) Pendulum swing

Play area 5-10/11 years
1) Combination play activity to include a climbing tower, spiral slide (tubular), rope play/climb (triangular), monkey bars
2) Swings, (possibly including a nest seat)
3) Roundabout with wheelchair access
4) Rodeo board

Play area teenagers (secondary school ages)
1) Zip wire suitable for older children and teenagers

Other popular items included: large pendulum swing; twin pommer seat style rotating swing; challenging climbing equipment; standing rope swing; table tennis table. Items have not been specified to allow for the designer to consider and budget.

Whilst specific types of equipment have been identified through engagement with users of the park, children's community groups and residents, and are highlighted within the 'specification, it is accepted that not all providers may offer the same specific equipment of this nature and so alternative options are welcome to be submitted and will be considered, and the Council welcomes creativity to provide an attractive inclusive play area.

The project is hoped to be completed by early spring 2022. The installation dates quoted in this notice, are a guide as to when it would be expected to have the project completed. Due to access to the site, it would not be viable to access the site in wetter winter months.

Each tendering firm will be supplied with a specifically marked envelope in which the tender is to be sealed, and will remain sealed until 12 noon the day after the closing date (or other date that is selected to open all tenders received). Electronic submissions will not be accepted as all tenders received will be opened on the same date.

Enquires can be made via email: or telephone: 01732 865368. A site visit is recommended.

Edenbridge Town Council is proposing to select one contractor and issue a single works order for the playground refurbishment and creating new teenager area.
