Brief Description of Requirement;

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Office for Product Safety and Standards is the relevant department, responsible for Product Safety within the UK.

BEIS will carry out assessments and testing to determine the current levels of compliance in the freezer and fridge freezer sectors in the UK in line with Product Safety requirements.

Tenders are invited for testing according to the requirements detailed below.


Requirement;

To test 10 critical clauses from EN 60335-1 and the relevant part 2 covering electrical and fire hazards for a selection of freezers and fridge freezers to verify compliance with the following Regulations (and any amendments to these):

• General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) - 2001/95/EC
• UK Statutory Instrument 2005 No. 1803 - Consumer Protection The General Product Safety Regulations 2005

The test methods applied should follow harmonised standards EN 60335-1:2012 and EN 60335-2-24 (freezers and fridge freezers) published in the Official Journal of the European Union, or other reliable, accurate and reproducible calculation and measurement methods, which take into account the generally recognised state of the art.

This contract will be awarded based on the evaluation criteria set out in the ITQ document.

Once you have registered on the eSourcing Suite, a registered user can express an interest for a specific procurement. This is done by emailing expressionofinterest@crowncommercial.gov.uk.

Crown Commercial Service will process the email and then enable the Bidder to access the procurement online via the e-Sourcing Suite.
