Description
Historic England wishes to undertake a review of its urban characterisation programme, in two parts.
i) A detailed review of completed work in each of the programme's strands and their coherence and effectiveness as a programme. To include reviews of all completed EUS, Metropolitan HLC, UAD, UAA, and UAS projects, and with a high-level review of applied outcomes from this work.
ii) Undertake scenario-planning which explores the options for future development of the programme. This should identify the key strategic drivers which would underpin any new work and specify potentially beneficial outcomes for our urban areas and their historic environment, those using them and planning their futures, and for Historic England and the wider historic environment sector.
