Description
The Environment Agency is intending to procure a contract for inspections and servicing of its cableways installations.
A hydrometric cableway is any bank supported by aerial conveying system suspended above a waterway. Such systems consist of a winch, pulley and cable system that is supported across a river by two metal towers or stanchions; they allow flow gauging equipment to be traversed across a river so that the Environment Agency can take measurements of water depth and velocity. ; such measurements are then to be used to calculate the flow or discharge of the river.
All cableways are to be inspected, serviced and load tested annually in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and BS EN ISO 4375:2014
this contract will cover the whole of Environment Agency's cableway asset base, spread across England. It is likely to be split into 3 lots based on the geographical location of the cableways
A Key requirement of this contract will be for anyone working on these installations to have appropriate electrical and mechanical qualifications.
