Description
Mendip District Council is looking to procure a contractor to develop a Somerset Wide Energy Plan over a period of 8 months. This piece of work would be done on behalf of all Councils in Somerset including Somerset County Council, Sedgemoor District Council, South Somerset District Council and Somerset West and Taunton District Council. All five Councils have declared a Climate and Ecological Emergency and have worked together to publish Somerset's Climate Emergency Strategy. The strategy is split into nine sectors with one focused on the energy sector. All councils have jointed committed through the strategy to develop an Energy Plan for Somerset.
Within the strategy are 3 objectives
- To decarbonise Local Authorities, the wider public estates and reduce our carbon footprint
- To work towards making Somerset a Carbon Neutral County by 2030
- To have a Somerset which is prepared for, and resilient to, the impacts of Climate Change
