Description
The Langport River Project
LOT 1 - Riverside Pontoons - Specification for Tender
Background Information
At Langport, the River Parrett is in its 'mature stage', meandering through a flat wetland landscape - the Somerset Levels. Shortly before reaching Langport it is joined by its tributaries, the Rivers Yeo and Isle, together drain an area of over 750 km sq.
The river, at Langport, is considered to be non-tidal but opinions on this vary. Nonetheless, the river experiences significant rise and fall some of which are generated through local flood management and others through the volume of rainfall upstream. The area can experience variation of water levels at any time of the year.
