Description
The City of London has appointed a consultant for a once-in-a-generation opportunity for
transforming the West Smithfield area public realm into an exceptional civic space.
This historic part of the city will go thought major transformations with the delivery of the recently adopted city
transport strategy and the development of culture mile, as well as the Museum of London move to the site and
the announcement of the relocation of the Smithfield Central Market in a new consolidated site.
The aspiration is to develop a design for the future public realm which is flexible and future proof considering
all these changes in a holistic way. The aim of the brief is to produce designs for public realm transformation in
Smithfield to include concept design and developed design stages.
