Brief Description of Requirement
The Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS); Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) is an appointed market surveillance authority, responsible for (via the Secretary of State) enforcing the General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) within the UK.
The test results stemming from this tender will form part of a larger testing programme currently being undertaken by OPSS. The aim of this testing programme is establish the baseline levels of non-compliance across a range of products. This tender is focusing on one product from that range. The results of this testing programme will help to inform future OPSS decision-making and aid impact measurement.
The successful bidder is to provide test results for 50 different examples of the below electrical product to verify their compliance against the Radio Equipment Regulations. The test house will therefore receive 50 x 3 multiples of each sample to allow for the full suite of tests to be carried out. Therefore, the test house will receive 150 items in total. 50 x 3 = 150.
Smart Speaker Samples:
The identified test methods applied should follow the relevant standards set out in the Regulations as applicable to the smart speaker samples and should be carried out to the following standard:
• EN 62368:2014 +AC:2015
o Clause 4 General requirements (Limited Assessment)
o Clause 5.3 Protection against electrical energy sources
o Clause 5.4.9 Electric Strength
o Clause 5.4.3 and 5.4.2 Clearance, creepage distances (Limited Assessment)
o Annex F Marking and Instructions and
• Regulation 39 CE/UKCA marking
• Regulation 8 or 18 Postal address of economic operator
o Annex G.4.2 Direct plug-in equipment (Limited clauses of BS 1363)
• EN 55032:2015 +A11:2020
• EN55035:2017
