Description

This Invitation to Tender (ITT) invites proposals for the digitisation of the Courtauld's Witt Library, the Paul Laib Negatives and the Photographic Survey.

Following a pilot project to digitise just over 10% of the total Witt Library, this procurement is for a contract to digitise three collections: the remaining 1.9 million images contained in 16,966 boxes of the Witt Library, approximately 22,000 glass plate negatives produced by photographer Paul Laib, and the 40,000 prints stored in 132 boxes which form the Photographic Survey.

The digitisation of the Witt Library must be completed within 12 months of the commencement date, and upload/publication concluded within 14 months of the commencement date. We accept that a period of no more than 4 months might elapse between the collections being removed by the contractor from Somerset House, and commencement of the 12 month digitisation phase of the project in order to fit in with the supplier's studio schedules and other work they might be undertaking. Digitisation of the Paul Laib negatives must should take place concurrently with the Witt, however digitisation of Photographic Survey prints may wait until the Witt digitisation has been finished, depending the supplier's capacity.
