Description

We have an area of woodland within St. Ives Country Park called Betty's Wood. The predominant species in the wood is larch. The Forestry Commission during one of their routine surveys have detected a plant pathogen called Phytophthora ramorum on some of the larch. Larch is a commercially important timber and to protect other stocks they have served us with a Statutory Plant Health Notice. This requires us to fell and remove the infected trees using licenced contractors hauliers and mills in an area of approximately 12 hectares before the start of this year's sporulation period. We shall be selling the timber by weight as standing trees (purchaser fells and removes), weight being measured by weighbridge tickets for every wagon load. The deadline for the work being completed is 31st October 2017.
