Description

This early engagement notice is to notify the market of the Department for Education's (DfE) intention to procure a provider to develop and host a resources hub for senior mental health leads in schools and colleges - helping settings to implement and sustain a whole school or college approach to mental health and wellbeing.

The senior mental health leads resource hub is intended to complement DfE senior mental health lead training currently being offered to schools and colleges in England. It would provide a single trusted repository where quality assured, age and setting-type appropriate, practical tools and resources can be easily identified, navigated and accessed. Its primary purpose is to make it easier for mental health leads to take action to develop their setting's approach to promoting and supporting mental health and wellbeing as part of how the setting creates a calm, supportive and inclusive environment and appropriate targeted support for those who need that. It will make it easier for staff by saving their time and reducing uncertainty around which resources are most useful in which context and how much they can be trusted and for what, based on evidence.

We anticipate that this opportunity will be of most interest to organisations already providing mental health and wellbeing support and resources to schools and colleges, including senior mental health lead training. The successful provider will need to develop a product that school and college users will trust and easily navigate - so that the resource hub becomes seen as an authoritative source of advice and information. To achieve this, it will need to gain the support of, and work in collaboration with, other mental health providers, experts and representative bodies across both sectors, and apply user centred design principles.

The successful provider may be either one organisation, or a group of organisations working in partnership. We are keen to receive feedback from suppliers on our proposal and therefore we will be hosting a market engagement webinar.

Further details will be released in due course.

If we proceed to enter a formal procurement process, a market engagement webinar will be hosted by the DfE, and details of this webinar will be sent to interested parties following registration.
