Description

Suffolk County Council
Commissioning Services for Vulnerable Adults

Suffolk County Council Adult and Community Services are reviewing the commissioning of a number of services including:
- Supported housing services for vulnerable adults
- Enabling Support services for those with "Enhanced Complex" needs
- Community based services for people with a learning disability including day, employment and learning support
- Planned respite services and intensive support at times of crisis for people with a learning disability

The review is designed to transform support available for people in their daily lives, including support in:
- Having safe and secure housing
- Being able to live independently in the community
- Having choice and control over their lives, support and money
- Live the life they want to live (including leisure, employment and other activities)
- Coping with crises

This transformation will take account of a number influencing factors including:
- The aspirations and views of people using existing services and their family carers
- The priorities of Suffolk's Joint Learning Disabilities Strategy
- The principles of Suffolk Adult and Community Services' Supporting Lives, Connecting Communities strategy
- The requirements of the 2014 Care Act
- The Health and Social Care integration agenda
- Financial reductions facing public services

It is likely that services will need to be reshaped in order to offer greater flexibility between services and give people more choice and control over the way they live their lives.

This Notice is to indicate Suffolk County Council's intention to work with providers of new and existing services, the Learning Disability Partnership, customers, advocates and other stakeholders to shape these services for the future to inform the commissioning process.

If you are an existing provider of these services in Suffolk, or are not currently doing so but would want to, and would like to be included in the distribution list for engagement events, and/or to receive other communications about the review, please let us know by emailing MyLifeMyFuture@suffolk.gov.uk
