Description

The Environment Agency has issued new guidance to Local Authorities regarding the disposal of materials containing Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs). The guidance states:
"Waste upholstered domestic seating containing POPs must not be:
• Landfilled
• Mixed with other non-POPs containing wastes
• Re-used or recycled
Waste upholstered domestic seating containing POPs must only be:
• Sent for incineration, or
• Used as a fuel in for example a cement kiln"

Leicestershire County Council are running a Soft Market Testing exercise seeking information from the industry to help the Council determine how it should approach the treatment of the above material going forward.
