Description

The Authority is seeking tenders from specialists in the provision of training courses for Educational and Clinical Supervisors hereafter referred to as 'Trainers'.

The GMC uses the Academy of Medical Educators' Professional standards for medical, dental and veterinary educators (2014) as the criteria against which all trainers in recognised roles must provide evidence of their ongoing professional development. Although these standards have since been updated, the GMC still use the 2014 edition for approval and recognition of trainers.

The criteria comprise seven areas:
1. Ensuring safe and effective patient care through training
2. Establishing and maintaining an environment for learning
3. Teaching and facilitating learning
4. Enhancing learning through assessment
5. Supporting and monitoring educational progress
6. Guiding personal and professional development
7. Continuing professional development as an educator.
Each training day should provide learning in all the above domains suitable to be recognised as a trainer by the GMC.

3. Scope of Contract
It is anticipated that a total of 16 full-day sessions (or equivalent) would be delivered, distributed across East Midlands training hospitals. Administration will be provided by the hospital Trust, and training rooms will be provided by the hospital where appropriate. Tenders should include plans/costs for a hybrid of virtual and face-to-face training, depending on Trust needs and Covid-safe provisions. The service being commissioned is specifically for the provision of training for those new to the Trainer role/s. Separate procurement exercises are taking place for the provision of top-up/refresher training for existing Trainers.

The price must cover all aspects of delivery, including but not limited to, travel, accommodation, materials, secretarial/admin costs, telephone calls, and postage. Tenderers are required to identify any parts of the service that are subject to VAT and at which rate.

Prior to payment a full VAT invoice is to be submitted in a format to be agreed with The Authority. Payments will be made in arrears for sessions delivered, and can be made at the end of each month or as a single payment at the end of the contract.
