Description

The provision of external specialist advice and support, aimed at enabling current organisational workforce planning priorities to be identified - including diagnosing current recruitment and retention challenges across the Council, with a view to using this information to develop a Corporate Workforce Strategy.

The strategy will enable a Council workforce plan to be developed for the next three years, the purpose of which is to ensure an effective supply of skilled, experienced, suitable employees to fulfil the requirements of future job needs, including leadership and senior officer roles and where possible using graduate and apprenticeship supply programmes, as well as internal promotions and appointments.

The workforce plan will capture and present information at a service level, effectively meaning that all Heads of Service will possess robust workforce plans for their services that will mitigate any recruitment and retention risks over this period. An additional outcome of the work will be a practical, sustainable approach to workforce planning, aligned to corporate strategies and annual service plans.
