Description

Kent County Council (the Council) is the largest county council in England covering an area of 3,500 square kilometres. It has an annual expenditure of over 900m on goods and services and a population of 1.3m. The Council provides a wide range of personal and strategic services on behalf of its residents, operating in partnership with 12 district councils and 305 parish-town councils. The Council is responsible for maintaining over 8700km of carriageways and 6300km of footways across the County.

The Council are seeking a potential contractor to carry out landscaping works required for the Dover Fastrack Project. These construction scheme works are not expected to be completed until approximately December 2023. Access could be provided from 1 January 2024 with works required to be completed within the winter planting season of February and March 2024.

The majority of the route to be planted is bus only, so whilst some traffic management will be required for works close to the carriageway, traffic flows are expected to be light. Allowances should also be made to manage pedestrians and cyclists along the shared footway and cycleway and also users of the public right of way that runs along the base of the embankment.

A five year aftercare and maintenance regime will be required after planting to adhere with a planning condition associated with the planning consent for the scheme.

Scheme approval will be sought on the week commencing the 12 June 2023. Should the decision be to procure these works, a procurement process will commence following the closure of this Expression of Interest Period. Location drawings showing the areas and type of planting have been attached as part of this EOI. Bills of quantities and Scheme Drawings are being drafted prior to release following the EOI.

The Council is using this advert as a means of Call for Competition and this will initially be run alongside an Expression of Interest. All tender documentation will be released in early July 2023 if the appropriate approval has been obtained to conduct a competitive process.

Expression of Interest and Tender Process Expressions of interest will only be accepted via the Kent Business Portal. In order to submit your interest in this opportunity please select the Login and Express an Interest button located at the bottom of this page. Note that in order to successfully submit your interest you will first need to register for an account. After registration is complete and you've received your login details you should return to the advert for the opportunity and express your interest.

The Expression of Interest will close at 2pm on 23 June 2023. Those suppliers that have successfully expressed an interest will be given access to the relevant documentation following scheme approval. Please direct all questions and communication through the Kent Business Portal Messages facility.
