Description
The NHS Leadership Academy (as part of Health Education England) is holding a Pre-market Engagement Event for providers who are interested in tendering for the provision of two nationally renowned and award-winning leadership development programmes namely the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Programme and the Nye Bevan Programme.
The Academy's philosophy is simple - great leadership development improves leadership behaviours and skills. Better leadership leads to better patient care, experience and outcomes. Its purpose is to work with partners to deliver excellent leadership across the NHS to have a direct impact on patient care.
The Academy will continue to build a leadership community with a common purpose and shared values. Its whole approach is designed to create inclusive and distributive leadership at all levels, throughout all professions and across all sectors.
There is unequivocal evidence in every sector that there is a strong relationship between leadership capability and organisational performance. This is as true in health care as it is in any other business.
Key programme features:
• Nye Bevan:
o A 12 month programme for aspiring executive directors or equivalent leading to an Academy award in Executive Healthcare Leadership
o The programme consists of residential activity, online content and application of learning in the workplace.
o Participants engage in a range of self-directed, experiential learning activities, which will focus on self-awareness and personal development.
o The programme is based on the principles of self-managed learning. Participants assess and are to be assessed by peers within their learning sets with the full support of the set advisers
o Further details can be found on the website
• Elizabeth Garrett Anderson:
o A two-year leadership development programme for mid to senior level leaders leading to a Masters in Healthcare Leadership and an Academy Award in Senior Healthcare Leadership (18 months if accessing via APEL)
o Currently jointly accredited by the University of Birmingham and Alliance Manchester Business School
o There are seven modules and three core learning including work based application (where set activities on the online Virtual Campus are put into practice at work), online learning (academic content, assignments and discussion groups) and face-to-face residential behavioural development workshops and action learning sets
o Further details can be found on the website
All residential elements of both programmes are currently delivered from the Academy in Leeds, unless demand locally requires alternative arrangements.
