Description

The University of Warwick has a requirement to purchase a backscatter Laue system (LS) to replace an existing instrument which is currently used to check the quality and then align single crystal samples of materials used for neutron diffraction and inelastic scattering measurements, as well as for various bulk properties measurements (magnetisation, resistivity, heat capacity etc). Sample sizes range from sub-millimetre to 10-15 centimetres in length. The existing LS, which is 12 years old, includes an X‐ray generator, a set of 6 precision rotation/position stages and a digital X-ray camera. It allows for nearly real-time data collection, as on the best scattering samples the minimal exposure time is few seconds. A new system should at least match, but preferably exceed the current instruments performance, allowing for fast, almost real-time alignment of crystals for cutting and precise orientation. The Part Two tender document sets out the services requirement and evaluation criteria. Please ensure you read in conjunction with the other parts of the complete tender document set.
