For a student to gain experience and skills that they can use at university and more generally in future careers

For Defra to draw on high claibre students that make a valuable contribution to the work of the Wildlife and Agri-Environment Division. For example, this year's student has managed Defra's Nature Twitter account; acted as the editor of Biodiversity News, a quarterly publication prepared for our stakeholders; supported engagement work on pollinator policy and on biodiversity policy; supported data collection work for national statistics; and provided support for a range on internal and external meetings
