Lancaster University's BLS (Biomedical and Life Sciences) Department are looking to build on their outstanding success and reputation by increasing the number of research spaces available in the existing building LEC (Lancaster Environment Centre) buildings. Additional laboratory workspaces are necessary to accommodate the increased number of project students that are the result of their success in student recruitment and to facilitate plans to increase student recruitment further by developing new specialist post-graduate research programmes. This project allows BLS to increase the occupancy levels within their existing laboratory spaces, with no new-build accommodation required.

The project will be phased in order to minimise disruption to teaching and learning activities in the building and department. Careful consideration must be given at each stage to how the contractor can work to minimise noise, dust, vibration, areas out of use, access restrictions, etc to allow our teaching and learning activities to proceed as required by the academic calendar.

Please read the available documents for full details.
