Description

This project will deliver an investigation of sector recruitment between 2022 and 2024 to analyse number and types of heritage roles recruited for; and classify and calculate the range of knowledge, skills and experience required for these jobs. This will provide a more comprehensive picture of the job market and the demand for particular skills across key areas of the historic environment sector; which in turn will help the sector prioritise current and future skills needs. The project will focus on the occupational areas of archaeology, conservation and heritage management/advice; in order to compliment the skills needs analysis for heritage construction which has recently been commissioned by Historic England.

The aim of this project is to provide an evidence base on the demand for job roles, skills and experience from employers in the historic environment sector over the past year. This will provide baseline evidence in order to undertake a robust skills gap analysis, and prioritise which skills areas need to be further developed across the sector.
