Description

The City of London is procuring the appointment of two contracts to be awarded under separate lots for the provision of minor works for building fabric and M&E works respectively. The value of individual works orders will be limited to no more than £250,000 per order. Expenditure over the last three full financial years for minor works across the scope of both lots has increased from around £4,000,000 to over £6,000,000 per annum. Future annual spend may vary further.

The City occupies and operates accommodation that exceeds over 800 properties covering the following geographical locations:

• Square Mile
• West End
• East London
• North London
• Epping Forest
• Buckinghamshire
• Surrey, Heathrow
• Thames Estuary

That accommodation includes corporate office, school, housing, police, income generating investment property, market and commercial, theatre and concert hall provisions, some of which are listed, and other individual property assets associated with City open spaces and built environment at locations across the wider London region.

The City's duties range from the upkeep of open spaces outside the City such as Epping Forest and Hampstead Heath, to the management of the Barbican Centre and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. As well as providing the usual local authority services such as housing, waste management, education, social services, environmental health, and town planning, it also has responsibility for the City of London Police and the Central Criminal Court at the Old Bailey. It provides five River Thames bridges; runs four food markets, and is a Port Health Authority. The City also owns and manages substantial commercial and property holdings, and maintains the City's highways. It part funds the Museum of London, acts as its Treasurer, and provides its financial support systems.

Responsible Procurement

The City is committed to developing, promoting and delivering our services, information and employment opportunities without discriminating anyone because of their race, disability, age, sexual orientation, faith or lack of faith, gender or any other aspect of their background or heritage.

We expect our contractors and other people who deliver our services to share this vision and these values. All organisations that want to provide services on our behalf must be able to show they are taking steps to allow equal access to services and promote equal treatment in employment.

In keeping with the City's commitment to sustainability and the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012, the City will actively seek to engage suppliers that will promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of the residents, visitors and businesses operating within the 'Square Mile'.
