Description

English Heritage wish to appoint a Main Contractor to undertake the phased programme of repair works to Lincoln Medieval Bishops Palace under the principle of Sustainable Conservation.

The majority of the site is closed to the public due to falls of decayed and spalling masonry. The over-arching objectives of the project are to:

o Return the site to a safe and steady state condition.
o Facilitate once more, public access to the whole of the site.
o Work with the design team to deliver the optimum repair solution for the site which represents best value in terms of through-life costing over a 25 year period (Sustainable Conservation).
o Alleviate the subsequent demand for onward maintenance, particularly of high-level and difficult to access areas of masonry, including those parts accessed via adjoining properties; it is our aspiration to avoid re-visiting and re-scaffolding such areas for a period of 25 years following this programme of repair (Sustainable Conservation).
