Description

The market test is being undertaken to ensure that there is the capacity and willingness to provide targeted services alongside other current physical activities which permits an all inclusive service in the future. Commissioning services in this way across Warwickshire can only work if Providers are able to deliver this practically and if the market is ready to deliver to this targeted standard. This will also assist us to look at all possible options that may not have been considered and any associated risks and issues.

As part of Warwickshire County Council (WCC) Public Health's development of the Fitter Futures Warwickshire weight management and physical activity on referral services we are currently exploring service delivery model options for the future service. We understand that there is a need to commission the Fitter Futures Warwickshire services to develop and support the current provider market and improve the experiences of the customer going forward.

A full review of the services has highlighted that the following groups experience barriers when taking part in or trying to access the current Fitter Futures Warwickshire:

? Young and adult carers
? Young people
? Men

People with:
? Severe mental illness
? Learning Disabilities
? Dementia
? Neurological conditions

People who:
? Are recovering from cancer
? Have a Body Mass Index (BMI) 40 and over
? Have had a stroke
? Have heart failure
? Are at high risk of falls
? Are from a black and minority ethnic group (BME).

Future service delivery for Fitter Futures will aspire to be more accessible to these groups that have not or could not access the current services. The new Fitter Futures Warwickshire model will incorporate Providers that can deliver targeted services to broaden the opportunity and breadth of physical activity support for THE Warwickshire population. For example, a coach that can deliver chair based exercise classes within a care home, provide 1-2-1 support with an individual who has early-mid stages of dementia in a home setting and lead community based postnatal classes. The aim is to bring exercise into the community to support Warwickshire citizen's to lead an active lifestyle rather than relying on them to visit a leisure centre.
