Description

The installation of Solar PV on domestic properties as part of a European funded programme, Horizon 2020 - REPLICATE Programme. The REPLICATE scheme is a research and demonstration programme looking at how SMART technologies can change the way we use power and save consumers money. It is a five year programme that commenced in January 2016. The aim of the Bristol Pilot is: To tackle inequalities and increase community engagement and resilience in east Bristol by demonstrating new, intelligently managed services with citizens and communities.

The purpose of this part of the project is to support the installation of energy saving measures, with Solar PV being one element of this, alongside other SMART technologies (i.e. SMART white goods) which are linked via a customer interface so that customers have a better understanding of their energy use and can adapt their behaviour to reduce their costs. The Solar PV element of the scheme proposes up to 150 installations on private domestic properties primarily within the Ashley, Easton and Lawrence Hill wards of the city, though there is also possibility that installations could happen in all Bristol BS postcodes. All installations are supported by a sizable grant (approximately 1/3 the average cost of installation), and installations must result in a reduction of KW/h for each property.
