Description

The purpose of this project is to replace the existing 11KV standby generators with three 11kV, 3000kVA generator sets (size dependent on their ability to start the systems 20 transformers). These units will be operated as standby generation in the event of supply interruption and will synchronize with the mains for a no-break return. The system is designed for N+1 compliance as defined in HTM-06-01 as two of the proposed generators will fully serve the existing hospital main and essential loads. Note only two generators will be synchronized with the ring-main at any one time due to ring-main capacity and NPG requirements.
The new generator is to be factory inspected and tested with witnessing by the engineer and Clients representative prior to shipping to site.
All openings will be fitted with silenced housings to reduce combined noise levels to 70dBa at 1 meter external to the building. The Contractor should note that it is hoped the engine cooling fan can be mounted remotely on the building roof to cut down on any incursion into the estates streets. The remote engine cooling can be driven mechanically, hydraulically or by multi electric VSD controlled fans with an N+1 redundancy.
