Description

3.1 2.1 Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a contractor to undertake the refurbishment of Ward 3 Side Room 1 along with its Ensuite and anti-room Lobby. This is area is used for patients that require isolation for a variety of reasons: non-airborne infections, requiring privacy or at end of life.
3.2 This project to refurbish Ward 3 Side Room 1 and its facilities is currently a one-off project but may lead to the refurbishment of other side rooms and their facilities, should funding become available.
3.3 Close working with our water monitoring consultants, Evolution, will also be required to ensure that the timings for water treatment and post-testing are also incorporated into the programme window of six weeks. Please also allow for two days post chlorination of pipework, before final water test, then allow two weeks before final certificates are received to ensure water quality is to the appropriate hospital standard, before the hand back of the area to the hospital
3.4 As this is a working hospital Ward, in 24/7 use, this needs to be taken into consideration and allowed for. Access to the Ward and the site will be via the nearby Ward Entrance from one of the Hospital's main circulation corridors.
3.5 The project duration is of six weeks maximum duration so that the area is returned to clinical use as soon as it IS practical to do so. A Side Room is a very valuable resource for the Hospital within its clinical provision, so keeping the project duration as short as is practical, without compromising quality is important.
3.6 The prospective tenderer is advised to visit site to ascertain the full extent and nature of the works and to interpret the information contained within this specification and detailed on the drawings to suit the characteristics of the site.
3.7 Suppliers are encouraged to gain as much knowledge and information as possible about the project. If a supplier wishes to visit the hospital site during the process, this can be arranged with the Trust via the ProActis (Due North) ProContract portal. Notice of at least 1 working day is required in advance of such visits. See section 9.0 below.
