Description

Final date and time for submission of bids is 11 April 2017 at 14.30pm. Please DO NOT apply directly to the buyer.

The Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC- UK Astronomy Technology Centre) wish to purchase six cameras for the MOONS astronomical spectrograph.
MOONS is the 'Multi-Objects Optical and Near-infrared Spectrograph' for a VLT- Very Large Telescope). UK ATC require the six cameras for the Camera Optics, a sub system of the Spectrograph. The MOONs design consists of two identical cryogenic spectrographs. Each spectrograph incorporates three cameras.

The optics can be conveniently divided into the following sub-systems:
Camera-RI, Camera-YJ and Camera-H - These are to be used to re-image the spectra onto the detectors. These three cameras are made of two lenses (L1, L2) and one mirror (M1); all these elements have one aspheric surface. The lens L2 is positioned inside the central hole of L1.
The cameras have a very fast focal aperture (about F/0.95) and a large field of view (about ±9o).
- Camera-H covers the wavelengths range between 1450nm and 1800nm.
- Camera-YJ covers the wavelengths range between 940nm and 1350nm.
- Camera-RI works from 640nm to 950nm.

The customer (STFC - UK Astronomy Technology Centre) will provide the glass blanks for the lenses and mirrors.
Detailed mechanical drawings of the optical elements shall be prepared by the manufacturing company. The detailed mechanical design of the optical elements and of the L1-L2 assembly will be defined and agreed in close collaboration with the MOONs project team (UK ATC).
