Description

Powys Teaching Health Board require a suitably qualified supplier to carry out location specific Radon Gas Mitigation works to the sites within Powys Teaching Health Board indicated in the specification.

These works have been based on previous investigations as detailed below:-

• Postcode appraisal of the areas to identify high risk sites
• Initial three month sparse monitoring to establish indicative Radon Gas levels at each site
• Additional one month location specific monitoring to establish the range and extent of the Radon Gas present in the affected areas
• Diagnostic profiling to establish the most appropriate location for the installation of mitigation works to reduce the Radon Gas levels to the workplace threshold of 400bqm3 set out by the Health and Safety Executive and stated in IRR99.

The scope of works involve the installation by the successful Contractor of an appropriate mitigation system as detailed in Appendix A2 and these works shall be site specific.
The aim of the mitigation works are to install a system that will effectively reduce and subsequently maintain the existing Radon Gas levels to a level that complies with the current work place limits and recommendations.

In addition PTHB shall arrange for the installation of post works monitors in the areas where the mitigation works have been carried out. These shall be left in place for a four week period and will provide PTHB with readings to establish for HSE the reduction in Radon Gas that has been achieved by the works.
