Description

The National Museum of the Royal Navy look after the largest fleet of historic warships in the world. Having taken ownership of HMS Warrior in July 2018, it was evident that the ship needed a full redesign and rewire of its current electrical system. The ship and its systems host a staff presence 24/7 all year and paying members of the public to the Historic Dockyard. Evening meals and events all take place throughout the year, supported by a cafe and a fully equipped professional kitchen. Alongside this public-facing role, the ship maintains numerous systems - macerator, speaker, fire detection, lighting and heating - as well as power for maintenance tools and equipment.
The aim of this project is for a full redesign and install of a new electrical system from the shore-side and on the ship. The purpose of this project is to create a system which is safe and supports the current and future power requirements of the NMRN on the ship.
The anticipated timeframe for this project is;
- Autumn 2018: Tender process
- Design: Summer 2019
- Removal of redundant wiring and install: September 2019 - (Q3 - 4)
