Description

The 2022 Commonwealth Games is a significant project for the Council, forming one of 5 pillars in the 2018 - 2022 Council Plan. In 2022 Birmingham will open its doors to visitors, athletes, team officials and media from across the globe to view some of the best sporting and cultural events that have ever been hosted across Birmingham and the West Midlands region.

As the Host City for the Games, the Council will support key partners including the Birmingham 2022 Organising Committee, Transport for the West Midlands and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, in delivering a number of sporting and cultural events in the city. Which include 3 sports venues and two road events as well as a number of operational activities and requirements.

To support the hosting of the games, we have the opportunity connect with our communities to excite them ahead of the Games but also to understand how we can develop better services, better use of resources and encouraging more productive and positive relationships between communities, members and public bodies.

In order to achieve the campaign objectives there is a requirement for an agency to:
• devise and support the Council's Proud Host City community engagement plan, which will align with the civic pride campaign Be Bold Be Birmingham
• support the communications team on the run up to hosting the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games next year creating a toolbox of communications, promotional materials and content
• map out planned activities and support in delivery of communications to our communities
• support and effectively engage with the community pre-games to increase excitement
• attend regular working groups to help deliver and manage the contents of a series of engagement/communication activities.
• Develop measuring indicators to track progress and impact
