Description

Construction of a single storey extension to provide improved facilities and provision for pupils, including part demolition, internal alterations and refurbishment. Plus, improved landscaping, external alterations, increases to car parking, alterations to vehicle and pedestrian access points.

Additionally, improvements to the existing facade/building and roof: at The Bromley Beacon Academy, Avalon Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9BD.

The proposed works are shown on the existing and proposed drawings issued with the ITT.

The contractor's works will include completion of the detailed design beyond RIBA Stage 3/4 and construction under the JCT Design & Build 2016 form of contract with amendments. This will include discharge of planning permission conditions.

Works will be undertaken within the occupied school site. Access and egress for construction poses a challenge and will need to be carefully developed by the successful contractor in liaison with the employer and the school. Accordingly the works will need to be phased carefully to ensure that minimum disruption is caused to the school. Certain works can only be carried out, out of term time.

Appointment of the successful contractor is anticipated in November 2017 with commencement of works on-site in January 2018 and completion of the works in December 2018.
