Description

Provision of a New Chesterfield Royal Macmillan Cancer Centre

The project is a joint venture between Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Macmillan Cancer Support to provide a new out-patient cancer facility through a new build extension to an existing ward block at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The project relocates services from within the existing Cavendish Suite and Suite one and four where the size and layout of the building is inhibiting the Trusts ability to increase their capacity for cancer care.

The increase in capacity allowed for within the brief for the new building is approximately 50 percent larger than the existing facilities. The vision for the new building is to create a high quality cancer care services outpatient unit through the provision of a new, modern building which incorporates new ways of working. Extensive briefing has been carried out to ensure that the client's aspirations in this regard are being captured.

The project will co-locate a range of cancer-related Oncology and Haematology services currently provided in separate locations across the Trust including

Medical day case cancer services and out-patient procedures
Oncology and Chemotherapy services
Palliative care services
Haematology out-patient services
Oncology pharmacy support
Research and Clinical trials
Cancer information and support
Macmillan Centre - Benefits advice and voluntary support services
