Description

Works to establish native wildflower meadows on publicly accessible grasslands. This is likely to include parks, nature reserves and road verges.
This is a pilot project for the Council to test delivery of grassland Biodiversity Net Gain offsetting projects. These initial establishment works (between 2-4 sites) will be followed by another competitive procurement exercise to maintain them for c30years at a specific ecological condition. There is no guarantee that the winning contractor will win any additional works. The establishment phase is crucial for this long-term success.
Initial ground preparation works will begin in November 2023 and be completed by mid-December 2023. Annual establishment works will be required for 3 years until (September 2026) with possible extension for an additional two years.
