Description

Lambeage Hall - Phase 1 Extension and re-development
To apply provide details of your organisation, recent contracts and a referee, to: CSA Architects, St Piran House, Truro Technology Park, Heron Way, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 2XN info@csa-architects.co.uk no later than 1600 31st October
Lambeage Hall is the much loved 100-year-old community hall in the remote coastal village of Coverack and is in urgent need of updating and equipping with modern facilities for the disabled. It is the cultural and social hub of the village running many activities and community gatherings in a stunning location.
However, it is accessed by a steep flight of steps, making it inaccessible or challenging to access for young parents with pushchairs, any with mobility issues (many of our residents are elderly) and impossible for a local young person who has had a life changing injury.
CSA Architects based in Truro prepared an imaginative feasibility study in four phases to create, in Phase 1, a 2-storey extension to the front of the building. From the disabled parking and drop off point alongside the highway there will be an EV charger and bike racks. This new extension will be well insulated and triple glazed. Everyone would make their way down a short ramp and into the new upper storey. Stairs or lift would lead to a new reception area comprising toilets, including accessible and a changing places room, reception and a bar. This would then lead into the existing hall. This project would enable all our community to attend events and to extend our range of activities on offer with communities coming together and addressing the problems the damage to mental health caused by social isolation. The was built in the 1920s with the object 'to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for the inhabitants of and visitors to Coverack in the Parish of St Keverne for recreation or other leisure-time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life for the whole community.
Subsequent phases will follow on subject to availability of funding:
Phase 2 - construction of balcony overlooking the sea
Phase 3 - improvements and extensions at Lower Ground level
Phase 4 - External landscaping currently in progress with volunteers
