The Council is the Statutory Harbour Authority for the municipal Port of Workington,
Cumbria and is seeking to establish a contract for the provision of targeted maintenance dredging works. The standard annual maintenance dredging is normally executed by modern Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger(s) supplemented by plough / bed leveller. Maintenance dredging is required to restore depths in parts of the Turning Basin, River Derwent Catch Pit and other areas that are difficult to access by a normal TSHD, in the Port of Workington, Cumbria. For most dredging plant the work is tidal (Dredge level is approximately -1.8m CD) and is, in general, anticipated to be undertaken by mechanical dredging plant.
