Partnerships are with non-profit charities or non-governmental organisations. One of the partnerships is for the welfare of British nationals in detention overseas. Last year (FY 2017/18), consular staff worked on 5,287 cases involving arrests and detentions.
There are currently over 2,300 British nationals detained around the world.
